| An excerpt I like from The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks:
But love, I've come to understand, is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day.

| Hola amigos! Translation: I'm at work, and I don't have ANYTHING to do. I'm thinking about quitting this job and looking for another that will give me more responsibility. They don't pay me here, so the only things that they can give me are experience and knowledge. AND THEY'RE NOT GIVING THAT TO ME!! So I will stay until the end of next week, and if nothing changes, I will talk to them about this problem. My Spanish is about the same as when I left the States, I feel. I hope it will get better. Everyone here tells me that after 4 months or so, I will be a pro. I wish I was lying down in a park under a tree right now reading a book. I get off at 3pm, so I'll still have time after work. Maybe I'll go then. I had a coffee date yesterday. He's a nice guy, but not my type. He invited me to go dancing on Friday, and I really don't want to go, but I told him I would get back to him about it. Ugh. Why do I do this to myself? Now he's gonna be attached like a lost puppy. I should have cut him loose immediately. GRR. ...... Or maybe I should stop being a bitch and take a friend where I can get one. I only have one other right now....and I have a crush on him! So that probably doesn't even count as a friend, does it? Wait, YES IT DOES. | | |
| Hi All-- I sit here on my bed, which has the most uncomfortable mattress I've ever slept on (and I went to summer camp when I was little), eating Cracker Jacks that Selena, Allyson, and Jessica put in my going away goodie bag. They are delicious girls. Thanks for all the junk food, love y'all. So as I sit here, I wonder what people back home are doing. I'm doing the same thing I would be doing back home, checking email and what not. Not a good sign, is it? No. But this is only because I am in the process of making friends. I am putting myself out there and saying HEY I'M LOOKING FOR FRIENDS...like at work today, I invited the English girl to go to an Irish Pub with me on St. Patty's. And granted, I don't know anything about her, but this is how people get to know each other...going out...trying them on for size...add green beer to the mix and I foresee a beautiful friendship. Today I had my first Bon-Bon since 2004. They are extremely popular little chocolates here, better than anything we have in the States. I also think that they are the source of the term "Bombon" used for a hot chick, but I don't know that for sure. I got whistled at on day 1 and yesterday a guy passed me and said "hola amor"....*sigh*....it's just nice. Nothing spectacular, but I am going to enjoy it! I bought dried peaches today, something I rarely have found in the States. Some things we are completely missing out on! Other things, like peanut butter, THEY are missing out on. Although a former houseguest brought peanut butter here, and none of the family liked it....so it's still in the fridge. My Cracker Jack prize was a little information card about Alexander Hamilton. Did you know he was born in an island in the West Indies? It just reminds you of how we were all immigrants at one point in time. It really irritates me when some people in the U.S. get all huffy puffy and possessive of something that belongs to all of us. Well anyway, lets me pause and look for a funny picture to put up for your viewing pleasure. <PAUSE >
There we go! Have good week everybody! Love, Me | | |

| Interesting things to see in Waco, Texas today... Black Santa waving to passers-by on the street corner outside of Boozer Jewelers.
Also a young man dressed as Will Ferrell in Elf, standing on the side of the road, holding a sign for whatever business. Well, it was more of a lean on the sign and look miserable to the point of death while people waved at him. heh. Well I waved. He just looked so damn goofy.
